In terms of choosing a CMS, it may be difficult to determine which one is most suitable for you. Following the two basic tips below, you can narrow down your options.
Keep it simple
The first thing to look for with a CMS is to keep it simple, not only in its function but also in its usage. You need a solution that is easy to learn and simple to use, too.
If you don’t have a dedicated technician working the CMS, you may want a solution that can help you throw up some content and forget about it. And even if you have a dedicated IT person, they may not want to deal with a complicated system either.
A good CMS will help you easily do the following things:
- Update content and its scheduled time.
- Integrate different types of content such as jpg, video, etc.
- Set content loops.
Keep it integrated
In current climate, it is not enough to just push out a generic advertisement and hope for getting the best. You need your advertisement to be able to connect with the viewers on a direct, personal level. To do this, your CMS needs to be integrated with various data sources.
For instance, your CMS should integrate with analytics on your customers. How often did people view the display? What percentage of people interacted with the display if there was an interactive component?
Some other examples of integration are:
- Weather feeds with content suitable for the current conditions.
- Facial analytics to determine a user’s gender, age, and mood, and create content based on that data.
- Tracking software to see if there is any display not working.
These are just a few software tools that you can integrate into your CMS. Make sure to choose a company that provides tools which are all simple to use. You don’t want to get a CMS that is so complex and you don’t have any idea how to run your campaign!
